Our Initiatives

Water Conservation

We’ve been at the forefront of safeguarding water resources in the Sacramento Valley. Programs for monitoring and recycling water ensure that 40% of the water used for rice production benefits downstream environments, other crops or wildlife refuges.

Wildlife Habitat Protection

California’s rice fields provide wetland habitats for over 230 wildlife species, including diverse bird populations wintering along the Pacific Flyway. 

Sustainable Farming Practices

By flooding 60% of rice fields during winter, we decompose rice straw post-harvest, return nutrients to the soil and support biodiversity—a practice that has significantly increased wildlife populations since its introduction in the 1990s. 

Continuous Improvement

Using 20% less water, today’s growers produce almost 25% more rice compared to 30 years ago, showcasing our dedication to resource efficiency and innovation.
